Dubrovnik to Split with a stop on the Makarska Riviera
The road from Dubrovnik to Split passes the Makarska Riviera, a line of pebble beaches with the Biokovo mountain right behind them. On a hot day it is the obvious place to stop for a swim.
We usually stop in Makarska itself or in Brela, depending on what you prefer: a town promenade with cafés, or a quieter beach under the pine trees.

Makarska has a long promenade, a harbour and plenty of places for lunch. Brela is smaller and known for its beaches and clear water. Two to three hours is enough for a swim and a meal.
