Neretva Green Delta & Stone Ston
North of Dubrovnik the Neretva river spreads into a flat delta of channels, reeds and mandarin orchards, very different from the rocky coast. Local people still get around parts of it by boat.
The day starts in Ston and crosses the Pelješac Bridge on the way to the delta.

The plan for the day
Ston
The walls and the salt pans, in the cooler part of the morning.

A stop where the bridge and the bay can be seen properly.
Opuzen and the delta
Channels and orchards around Opuzen. In season it is possible to arrange a ride in a traditional flat boat with a local skipper.
Metković
The main town of the valley, before the drive back to Dubrovnik.
Good to know
Mandarins are harvested in October and November, when the orchards are full of fruit. A boat ride is arranged and paid separately; mention it when you enquire.
